Today was the first interview in respect to this project. We have discovered that it is actually quite hard to generate interest. Perhaps we were naive but we really thought that a project of taking a disaster search dog qualified at the highest level in Australia to Switzerland to participate in the REDOG operational test at the highest level available, would generate more media interest, but not so.
Therefore, it makes this interview with Richard Stubs on ABC 774 all the more memorable and important. Richard, or 'Stubsy' as he is also affectionately known to ABC listeners here in Melbourne, is arguably one of the funniest radio hosts on air so I could expect that this interview would be fun. It was. He was great but I found that all the ABC staff I had anything to do with we
Richard allowed Jochen to come into the studio with me - Stubsy is known to be a dog-person - and asked whether he would bark for me, which of course he did, so listeners heard his voice as well.
Jochen is so used to going anywhere that society will allow a dog to be that going into the ABC studio at Southbank was really just 'another day in the office' for him. As soon as he realised that he didn't actually have to do anything, he curled up and went to sleep until I asked him to 'speak'.
